Written Psychology & Email-Based Therapy

Professional psychological support, thoughtfully delivered through writing. Pathways Clinical Psychology offers exclusively email-based psychological support for adolescents and adults throughout Australia, providing a flexible alternative to face-to-face, telephone and video appointments.

Written therapy allows you to express your thoughts, emotions and experiences in your own time, without the pressure of live conversation. You receive personalised, evidence-informed psychological guidance from an experienced Clinical Psychologist.

Areas of Support-

Written consultations may assist with:

  • Anxiety, depression and emotional difficulties

  • Stress, burnout and workplace challenges

  • Relationships, attachment and interpersonal patterns

  • Self-esteem, identity and personal development

  • Grief, loss and life transitions

  • Emotional regulation and psychological coping

How It Works-

  1. Initial enquiry: Contact the practice by email and complete a written suitability assessment.

  2. Submit your concerns: Describe one primary issue in approximately 300–800 words (maximum 1,000), including its impact and what you hope to achieve.

  3. Receive your response: Your submission is professionally reviewed, with personalised psychological insights, therapeutic strategies, reflective exercises and recommendations provided within approximately three business days.

  4. Continue as needed: Arrange further written consultations at your own pace, without compulsory subscriptions or ongoing commitments.

E-Therapy Clinical Consultation Fees-

Initial Written Assessment (up to 75 minutes)- $195

Standard Written Consultation (up to 60 minutes)- $145

Brief Follow-Up (up to 30 minutes)- $85

Fees include review, psychological formulation, written response and necessary clinical documentation within the allocated professional time. Each consultation covers one structured submission and one professional response. Additional therapeutic correspondence requires a separate consultation. Any additional fees are agreed upon beforehand. Medicare rebates are not available for asynchronous email-based consultations. A GP referral is not required. All consultations are billed privately, and processed through a secure practice management platform.

*Important Information & Limitations-

Written therapy does not allow direct observation of non-verbal communication and may not be suitable for complex, severe or high-risk psychological presentations. All clients undergo initial clinical screening. Where written treatment is inappropriate, alternative services may be recommended. Correspondence is asynchronous, meaning responses are not immediate and emails are not continuously monitored. Confidentiality and electronic communication risks are explained during informed consent, with appropriate privacy and recordkeeping safeguards.

If you prefer expressing yourself through writing, Pathways Clinical Psychology offers a professional, reflective and flexible approach to psychological support. Suitability is assessed individually, as written therapy is not suitable for every psychological presentation.
